Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest

About Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy’s Kong Quest (SNES)

Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy’s Kong Quest is a platform game developed by Rare and published by Nintendo for the SNES in 1995. With Donkey Kong kidnapped by the pirate Kaptain K. Rool, the rescue falls to Diddy Kong and his girlfriend Dixie Kong, who set off across Crocodile Isle - from the deck of the Gangplank Galleon to the lava of Crocodile Cauldron and the thorny brambles of Krazy Kremland.

The sequel to the million-selling Donkey Kong Country raises the bar with tighter level design, clever animal buddies, and a treasure trove of secrets. Its pre-rendered graphics and atmospheric David Wise soundtrack still rank among the SNES’s finest achievements.

Detailed Gameplay

Run, jump, roll, and swing through side-scrolling stages packed with bonus rooms, collectibles, and hidden exits. Diddy and Dixie play differently: Diddy is fast with a long cartwheel, while Dixie floats with her helicopter ponytail spin.

The Kong Duo

• Swap between Diddy and Dixie anytime; losing one leaves you solo until you find a DK barrel
• Throw your partner to reach high ledges and distant bonus barrels
• Dixie’s helicopter spin makes tricky jumps forgiving; Diddy’s speed suits time trials

Collectibles and Secrets

• Spend banana coins at Funky’s Flights and Klubba’s toll to unlock new areas
• Find 40 DK coins, each guarded by the Kremkoin keeper Kremling in its level
• Collect Kremkoins from bonus rooms to pay Klubba and reach the secret Lost World

Animal Buddies

• Ride Rambi the rhino, glide with Squawks the parrot, and climb with Squitter the spider
• Rattly the rattlesnake’s super-jump and Clapper the seal’s cooling breath open unique paths
• Glimmer the anglerfish lights the way through one pitch-black underwater stage

Bosses and Worlds

• Battle Krow, Kleever, Kudgel, King Zing, and the vengeful Kreepy Krow across seven worlds
• The final showdown with Kaptain K. Rool waits aboard the Flying Krock
• A true 102 percent completion unlocks the ultimate ending
